Director & head coach

Justin Mason

Justin served as team captain for the University of Texas Longhorns for three years and started for four. He ranks 3rd all-time in career games played (141), 2nd in games started (132), 5th in career assist-to-turnover ratio, and is tied for 10th in career assists.

He led Texas to four NCAA tournament appearances, including the 2008 Elite Eight and a single-season record 31 wins, won the Big 12 title, and was part of the only No. 1 ranking in school history.

He was a two-time Big 12 All-Defensive Team selection, voted by the conference's coaches, and earned or shared his team's Most Outstanding Defensive Player award in each of his first three seasons. Sports Illustrated named him to its five-man All-Glue Team as a sophomore. In his senior year Texas led the nation in field-goal defense.

"I get to hand players the things it took me years to learn. That's the whole reason I coach."

How we coach

Things parents ask that most programs do not answer

Rosters are capped at 11

Every team has a head coach for up to 11 players, with an assistant assigned when staffing allows.

Playing time is earned, not equal

Minutes come from attendance, effort, and execution, and are at the coach's discretion. At the younger grades, coaches work to get every athlete on the floor as they develop.

Concerns come to the director, not the coach

Bring questions to Oscar rather than a coach, and please wait 24 hours after a tournament. These conversations belong off the court and in private.
