Westlake High School competition gym, the main basketball gym on campus. Enter through the Westlake Community Performing Arts Center at 4100 Westbank Dr. Do not use the main school entrance.
Locations can change from season to season. We confirm the gym on SportsEngine the week before tryouts.
Offensive and defensive skill work, evaluated on technique and effort.
Live play so coaches can see skills applied in a game setting.
No paperwork, and no basketball. We provide all the balls.
The season runs November 9 through January 30. Teams practice twice a week for about an hour and a half at Eanes ISD facilities, Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday.
4–5 tournaments in Austin and surrounding areas.
No practices or tournaments Nov 21–29 (Thanksgiving) or Dec 19 – Jan 3 (Christmas and New Year). No practice Monday, Jan 18 (MLK Day), though a tournament may fall on that weekend.
Every player who tries out receives a response. Offers begin going out by email after the final supplemental tryout. Each one carries its own deadline of 48 hours from the time it is sent.
When we form more than one team at a grade level we build the A team first, then the B team, and so on. Rosters also move. If a player does not register by his deadline, the next player in line moves up. So a family may be waiting on someone else's decision rather than on ours.
If you have not heard yet, it is not a no.
Players registered with 1891 may not play for another AAU, select, club, or travel program during our season. School teams, recreational and church leagues, and private skills training are all fine.
